One Dollar Ice Cream

One Dollar Ice Cream
For this post, I am going to review "One Dollar Ice Cream"---a very well-known ice cream in Singapore and very cheap! Only SGD 1 (please convert via Yahoo Currency Converter). Cheap and tasty - don't they sound like a good combination? It's a good treat after a tiring shopping spree.

There are various flavours from traditional flavours (Chocolate, Vanilla, Yam and etc) to exotic flavours (Durian, Peppermint, Blueberry, Raspberry, Double Choc Chip, Mango, Chocolate Brownie and etc). You will always find these at Orchard Road. I bought mine from an old uncle around Takashimaya. Like they said, there is no specific age for retirement in Singapore.

The One Dollar Ice Cream is always crowded--even on rainy days! If any of you happen to visit Singapore, do stop by to taste the ice cream. It might taste traditional (compared to New Zealand Natural Ice Cream, Gelare, Cold Rock, Haagen-Dazs, Gelatissimo), but one scoop of ice cream would never hurt!

Pizza Boy

Tasty and affordable should be the right adjectives to describe Pizza Boy. At first, I wasn't to sure about Pizza Boy due to the size of the building. Only 1 ruko (google ruko for better understanding). Kind of too small. Since many of my friends recommended this pizza restaurant, I decided to give it a try (although my companion was hesitant).

Small Pizza with Salmon + Ham + Mushroom + Garlic + Extra Cheese
I personally think that the ruko building is too small. They should build it in at least a 5 m wide ruko instead of 3.5 m. It was crowded at the time I visited there so it's like forcing a bunch of people into a small room. I didn't feel comfortable with that. Even worse, at the time I visited, the temperature was quite warm and I sweated even before I was seated. First impression was not good.

Spaghetti Aglio Olio
After that, my companion and I decided to go somewhere else for dinner but since we were hungry and every where would be crowded during dinner time on weekend, we decided  to  stay. You know what? We were we did because the food was delicious!

I don't remember the name.
I don't remember what it was called, but it was very tasty. It has mozzarella cheese inside and the crust were very crunchy. You will love it! Unless you have lactose or cheese intolerance.

Creamy Mushroom Soup
The creamy mushroom soup was the best! Thick and you can taste a little bit cheese. I think the composition of the milk and the soup was perfect. Not too thick, not too thin. Even better, the black pepper enhanced the delicious taste of the cream and mushroom.

Good news is that you can customize your own pizza! You can choose the meat and the toppings so it's fun! You can have extra cheese if you are a cheese lover, you can also pick whether you want thin crust or thick crust. The meat I chose were salmon and ham with garlic and mushroom topping as shown on the first picture. The diameter for small pizza was about 15 cm.

The spaghetti aglio olio was not my favourite. It tasted okay, acceptable, but not too good. I'd say Pizza Boy didn't specialize in spaghetti. But the garlic bread was delicious and crunchy. The smell of garlic and butter could really tickle your sense bud.

Buffalo Wings and Rings - CLOSED

My first review will be about Buffalo Wings & Rings. Many months ago, one of my friend told me BW&R would finally open! I wondered if the opening-soon BW&R is gonna be as good as the original BW&R because I heard a lot about BW&R - how delicious and tasty it was - but if the one here is bad or doesn't suit the people here, then sooner or later they're gonna have to shutdown the business and bring the business somewhere else - which I hope won't happen because I love it!
Cheese Quesadillas + Garlic Wing with Onion Rings
The quesadillas is my favourite. It felt like the cheese was flowing and melting inside my mouth. I really loved the cheese. The skin was also crispy and it smelled so good. The quesadillas were finger licking good! It's too bad the garlic wings were only so-so. Somehow, too sweet. I don't really like too-sweet kind of food. Maybe it's the recipe. I think I should try another flavour if I visit there again. You know, something less sweet.

I need to note that the first thing that attracted me when I passed the restaurant was the hostess. There was a tiny lady at the time I visited there who stood in front of the restaurant and always yelled in a very loud voice "Buffalo Wings & Rings! Silahkan kemari Bapak Ibu" or "Buffalo Wings & Rings! Please come here, ladies and gentlemen!" (In Indonesia, Bapak is gentlemen or sir and Ibu is ladies or madam. Usually, the polite way to address people is to address the male first, then the female instead of the female first, then the male.) The restaurant always played up-beat songs, somehow it gave you an excited mood. But at sometimes, I think playing up-beat music all day and night will disturb your customers. Just saying.
